Cody Banks had more spent more time working out trigonometry and geometry in his head than most of his high school math teachers, but the thought of his upcoming test made him feel queasy. Putting a bullet in the head of a terrorist from 1.3 miles away is simple, but passing the AP Calc. test might be biggest challenge yet he’d face for years.

“Maybe I should get a tutor,” said Cody as he drew back the bolt on his rifle and chambered a round. That Natalie girl from his prep period seemed to know what was going on in Calc. class, and she was cute to boot. Cody clicked the safety off.

“Yeah, I’ll get a tutor.”
